Privacy Policy

Santranc ("Santranc," "we," "us") is operated by Edgecase Labs LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using the Santranc app or website you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

You provide

• Account info — your name and email address from Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple.
• Linked chess accounts — the Chess.com or Lichess username(s) you choose to connect, so we can import your games. We access publicly available game data associated with those usernames.
• Your content — games you play or import, PGNs you paste, and the questions you ask the AI Coach.

Collected automatically

• Usage & diagnostics — app interactions, performance, and crash data, collected through our analytics and crash-reporting providers.
• Device & identifiers — a Santranc user ID and basic device and app information.
• Notifications — if you enable push notifications, a device push token.

From partners

• Subscriptions — purchase and subscription status from Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive your full payment-card details; Apple processes payment.

2. On-device vs. Cloud Processing

• Maia3 and Stockfish run on your device. Positions analyzed locally by these engines are not sent to us for that purpose.
• AI Coach and cloud review require our servers: when you use them, the relevant position or PGN and your question are sent to us and to our AI provider to generate a response. Please do not include sensitive personal information in coach questions.

3. How We Use Information

To provide and improve the app (reviews, coaching, openings, puzzles, online play, history and progress), authenticate you, process subscriptions, send notifications you have enabled, prevent abuse and cheating, and analyze usage to improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Sharing

We share data only with service providers acting on our behalf: authentication (Google, Apple), subscriptions (Apple, RevenueCat), our AI provider, analytics and crash-reporting tools, and hosting. We may disclose information to comply with law or to protect rights and safety. We do not share your data with advertisers.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your account and game data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting contact@edgecaselabs.dev. Some records may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (for example, transaction records).

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, EEA/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. You can also manage subscriptions in your App Store settings and disable notifications in iOS settings.

7. Children

Santranc is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards where required.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encrypted auth tokens stored in the device keychain and encrypted transport. No method is 100% secure.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or on this page.
